DAVID SOLANA
Hi, I'm David Solana, and I would love to receive your vote to represent you and the District of Columbia in Congress as our Delegate to the US House of Representatives. I'm frustrated that our two-party system is not working for us. I'm here to fight for the changes we deserve.
Only one other time have I lived in a city where armed troops patrolled the streets. My Peace Corps service in Guinea ended three months early after what had been a bloodless coup degraded into a massacre of peaceful protestors. I will work to send the National Guard home until the moment they are back at home with their families, working their normal day jobs. Being forced to watch our tax dollars pay to occupy our home is the biggest insult to DC Home Rule that I have seen. We will continue to fight for DC Statehood, and I will work constantly to build the coalition that will get it done.
When I first told my friends I was thinking about running for office, I was told the key is to find a few wealthy people who agree with me on key issues, line them up as donors, and go from there. What a sign that our political system does not serve We the People of the United States!
DC, we voted for ranked-choice voting for a reason: to give us a chance to break away from the two-party system and to give us a chance to elect a voice for all of us that is going to work to give us the country we deserve. Let's get away from big donors and counting who has the most money in election cycles. It's time to fight for the changes We the People need.
My campaign is Our Campaign – for the people of DC to have a voice that represents US.
Together we will take on our biggest problems: the ongoing threats to home rule, rising prices and the lack of affordability, health care, an unsustainable national debt, wealth inequality, education, and our aging infrastructure.
It's time to fight to make our government work for everyone, and to get the value we deserve for the taxes we pay. It's long past time for us to have the same voting representation in Congress that every other tax-paying US Citizen has.

The Two-Party System Is Broken
WHY AN INDEPENDENT?
There has never been a better or more important time to vote for an Independent candidate than right now. Our electoral system has been hijacked by the wealthiest. Our politicians make choices that serve their donors instead of you.
Washington DC finally has ranked choice voting, against the wishes of the DC Democratic Party. Vote for David Solana as your first choice. I want to represent YOU, not donors, not a political machine. I am not accepting more than a $40 donation from anyone. I don't want to be beholden to the small number of folks and businesses who can donate the legal maximum. As I see democracy, I want you, DC Voters, to be the ones to hold me accountable.
I have heard the old fear that voting for an Independent candidate is "throwing away a vote." Ranked choice voting solves that: if you are concerned that not enough people will vote for David Solana with you, I encourage you to choose a second-place preference who you think might be a safer mainstream bet to protect against the alternative you want to avoid.
Let's break free from the two-party system that has been failing us for years. Let's work together for the America we deserve.
